The Society for the History of Women in the Americas (SHAW) is a diverse scholarly association dedicated to the historical investigation related to the history of women and gender non-conforming individuals in the Americas. SHAW invites expressions of interest to join its steering committee, in advance of its upcoming elections on Friday 18th September 2026.
We welcome the following expressions of interest for the vacancies below:
- Chair – VACANCY
- Treasurer – VACANCY
- Membership Secretary – VACANCY
If multiple nominations are received for any post, an online election will be held during an Annual General Meeting in September 2026.

The following posts on the committee are not subject to election in 2026:

Role Requirements:
All postholders are expected to attend quarterly online committee meetings and to attend the in person annual conference held in late June/early July.
The posts will have a tenure of three years.
Job sharing will be considered for these roles if requested.
The handover for Chair will be staggered from October-December 2026.
